New Constraints on “ Cool ” Dark Matter
It has been suggested that a sterile neutrino ν s which mixes with standard neutrinos can form nonthermal " cool " Dark Matter if its mass and mixing angle fall in the ranges 0.1 keV < ∼ m s < ∼ 10 keV and 10 −10 < ∼ sin 2 θ < ∼ 10 −4 , respectively. We point out that the required mixing makes these heavy neutrinos unstable. The dominant decay mode is into three light neutrinos, but the most st...
متن کاملKination-dominated Reheating and Cold Dark Matter Abundance
We consider the decay of a massive particle under the complete or partial domination of the kinetic energy density generated by a quintessential exponential model and we impose a number of observational constraints, originating from nucleosynthesis, the present acceleration of the universe and the dark-energy-density parameter. We show that the presence of kination causes a prolonged period dur...
متن کامل(Non-)Thermal Production of WIMPs during Kination
Understanding the nature of the Dark Matter (DM) is one of the current challenges in 1 modern astrophysics and cosmology. Knowing the properties of the DM particle would shed light on 2 physics beyond the Standard Model and even provide us with details of the early Universe. In fact, 3 the detection of such a relic would bring us information from the pre-Big Bang Nucleosynthesis (BBN) 4 period,...
متن کاملCosmological constraints on Neutrino - Dark Matter interactions
I summarize the results of a recent analysis where the cosmological effects of interactions of neutrinos with cold Dark Matter (DM) is investigated. This interaction produces diffusion-damped oscillations in the matter power spectrum, analogous to the acoustic oscillations in the baryon-photon fluid. I discuss the bounds from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey on the corresponding opacity defined as ...
متن کاملGamma ray constraints on Decaying Dark Matter
We derive new bounds on decaying Dark Matter from the gamma ray measurements of (i) the isotropic residual (extragalactic) background by Fermi and (ii) the Fornax galaxy cluster by H.E.S.S.. We find that those from (i) are among the most stringent constraints currently available, for a large range of DM masses and a variety of decay modes, excluding half-lives up to ∼ 1026 to few 1027 seconds. ...
